

Curriculum Overview
Christ-St. John's Lutheran School's mission is to assist families by providing a Christ-centered education to meet the spiritual and academic needs of our children now and for eternity.

What we teach reflects the truth of Christ in all aspects of teaching. The students have the opportunity to hear God's Word and make the connections to their lives, other studies, and other people around them. Below are the summaries of the curriculum we have for our subjects.

Synopsis of Curriculum
Religion
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School teaches religion to equip students with the skills to approach the world with the knowledge of the love of the Lord found in Christ Jesus. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the Christlight curriculum in order to enact these goals.
Mathematics
Christ-St. John’s is committed to providing students with a quality education in Mathematics so they can be good stewards of the blessings given to them and use them to serve their church, community, and country. A quality education in math will help students recognize God’s order in creation and help students succeed in other aspects of life. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the Eureka Math2 curriculum and additional resources in order to enact these goals.
English Language Arts
God is the Creator of all things, including English Language Arts. Our school is committed to providing students with a quality education in English Language Arts so they can function effectively as Christians in their church, community, and country. A quality education in English Language Arts will help students succeed in high school, in the workplace, and help them witness to friends, neighbors, and co-workers about our Savior. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) curriculum and additional resources in order to enact these goals.
Social Studies
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School teaches social studies to equip students with the skills to develop an understanding of the world in which God gave us, be advocates of God’s Word in a sinful world, to contribute in discussions, understand discipline, to apply forward-thinking, and practice problem-solving. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the Discovery Education curriculum, Nystrom Young Citizens curriculum, and additional resources in order to enact these goals.




Fine Arts
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School teaches fine arts to integrate theological and ethical considerations, viewing art not just as a form of personal expression, but as a meaningful practice that interacts with spiritual truths and community values. Christ-St. John’s utilizes a teacher-made curriculum in order to enact these goals.
Physical Education and Health
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School’s physical education’s philosophy emphasizes the belief that the human body is a creation of God, and therefore, taking care of one’s body through fitness, sportsmanship, and discipline honors this creation. It aims to cultivate an understanding of health that includes physical and spiritual well-being. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the SPARKS curriculum and additional resources in order to enact these goals.
Technology
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School teaches technology to equip students with the skills to manage technology to benefit their learning and to use it in a fashion that holds true to the Word of the Lord. Christ-St. John’s utilizes Google’s Applied Digital Skills resources and other technology resources in order to enact these goals.
Science
Christ-St. John’s Lutheran School teaches science to equip students with the skills to recognize the beauty of God’s creation. We see God’s presence in all that is visible and invisible in the world, which gives us the natural knowledge of God. In science, students will study the world which God has created for us to reside in until we are in heaven with him and how our bodies are made by God and are temples of his work. Christ-St. John’s utilizes the Nitty Gritty Science curriculum, BJU Press Science curriculum, and additional resources in order to enact these goals.
