What We Believe

What We Believe

We at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church believe that:

  • All people are born to sin and that this sin has separated us from God;

  • Out of pure love, God sent his own Son to save all people from sin;

  • Jesus, the perfect Son of God lived a perfect life and died an innocent death to wash our sins away;

  • Through believing in Jesus, we are forgiven and made children of God;
  • As forgiven children of God we have a secure, eternal life in heaven.

Our Confession on the Biblical Teaching of Marriage
God's word is clear - Marriage is a life-long union between one man and one woman.  Please refer to our "Policy and Doctrine Concerning Marriage" for our confession on this biblical teaching.  The sermon by Pastor Schultz titled "Rejoice in the Blessing of Marriage" provides a further
proclamation of how God defines marriage, what St. John’s believes and teaches, and the roles and responsibilities of the family members.
